Communities throughout Atlanta, Georgia
Teenagers need safe spaces to speak freely, be heard without judgment, and know they are not alone — that is where healing begins.
The Atlanta Mind Project, Inc. is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting mental health awareness, access, and action for teenagers and young adults in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
We believe every young person deserves the tools, resources, and community support to thrive — emotionally, mentally, and socially.
Through education, outreach, and community partnerships, we work to dismantle stigma and create safe spaces where young people feel seen, heard, and supported.
We strive to meet young people where they are — in schools, communities, and online — with programs designed to educate, connect, and heal.
TAMP was founded by two Charles R. Drew Charter School – Senior Academy students, Taylor Harper and Samuel West, to address the growing mental health challenges affecting teenagers and young adults. In 2024, while sitting in math class, they started TAMP after realizing they were both struggling to deal with high levels of stress on their own. Several months later, after a friend and classmate committed suicide, Taylor and Samuel incorporated TAMP and successfully obtained tax-exempt status for the organization.
Since its inception, TAMP has worked to increase awareness, reduce stigma, provide opportunities for peer support, and create safe spaces where students can openly discuss emotional wellness and mental health concerns.
Through leadership programs, educational workshops, and community outreach, TAMP seeks to empower young people to become advocates for mental wellness within their schools and communities.
We seek to partner with Atlanta-area middle and high schools to bring mental health education directly into classrooms — normalizing conversations and building peer support networks.
We hold facilitated, safe-space group sessions where teens and young adults can connect, share experiences, and support one another through trained peer counselors.
We hold creative workshops using yoga, art, music, and writing as tools for emotional expression — helping young people process feelings in ways that go beyond words.
We provide resources and workshops for parents, guardians, and educators to help them recognize, respond to, and support youth mental health in the home and classroom.
We are building an online resource library — including toolkits, guided practices, and a directory of Atlanta-area providers — accessible 24/7 from any device.
We empower young advocates aged 16–24 to become mental health ambassadors in their own high school and college communities through training, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.
